CITY OF NORTH PORT: Water Supply Authority’s 40th anniversary and “mortgage” burning event

The event celebrated the Authority paying off the 30 year bond of $32M by having representatives from the Authority, as well as representatives from municipalities served by the PRMRWSA, throwing a copy of the loan documents into a fire.

Edward H. Rensi, who started as a grill man at McDonald's and retired as CEO, brought the world chicken McNuggets, McRib (and much more), was instrumental in launching the Ronald McDonald House program and now lives in the City, was presented with a Key to the City by Mayor Erik Arroyo.

CITY OF VENICE: 3rd Annual "Turkey Trot For The Twig" 5K & Fun Run Presented by Smoothie King and JKPD

Turkey Trot for the Twig is back in-person this year and it is still all about the Kids!! The event is to benefit children in the foster care system and the programs of The Twig Cares.

CITY OF VENICE: The Venice Holiday Parade returns to downtown Venice this year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 27

The parade officially begins at 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Park Blvd. and W. Venice Ave (south side). It will proceed on the north side of W. Venice Ave. after crossing over Harbor Drive. From there, it will make a turn on Nokomis Avenue and go all the way down to Turin Street, where it turns right, ultimately making its way to the Venice Community Center, where the parade ends
