City Of North Port issued the following announcement on Nov. 09.
Meet Air Force veteran Shawn Powers, our North Port Utilities Locate Technician. Shawn spent 6.5 years in service and travelled throughout Europe during his tenure. Most memorable for him was his time in San Vito dei Normanni (in the heel of the boot) where villagers still utilized horses and plows and used homemade wine as a bartering commodity.
Shawn’s experience as a Telephone Switching Specialist led him to work after the service doing locates for the phone company, and now locates underground utilities and lines by utilizing maps, as-built drawings, GIS, and radar/sonar equipment. Shawn is a 21-year resident of North Port where he enjoys motorcycle riding and fishing.
Mr. Powers, your service in the United States Military is appreciated. Thank you.
