Congressman Greg Steube, representing Florida’s 17th district, has taken to social media to express his concerns regarding federal spending on initiatives he deems wasteful. Serving in Congress since 2019, Steube is vocal about his stance against certain government expenditures, particularly those supporting international programs.

On February 7, 2025, Congressman Steube criticized the Biden administration for its allocation of funds to global LGBT initiatives. He stated: "While we’re on the topic of wasteful spending, remember when Biden’s State Department allocated nearly $12 MILLION to fund far-left 'LGBT' initiatives worldwide? This is a prime example of liberal governance eroding our institutions, poisoning them with radical ideas..."

In another post on the same day, Steube highlighted specific expenditures made by the U.S. government. He pointed out that "$300,000 [was] spent in 2022 promoting LGBT activists in Botswana." This statement reflects his ongoing critique of what he considers excessive and misdirected use of taxpayer money.

Continuing his series of posts, Steube emphasized the responsibility owed to American taxpayers. He asserted that "American taxpayers deserve better than unelected bureaucrats burning their hard-earned dollars on far-left vanity projects. We will not rest until we restore sanity to federal spending." This tweet underscores his commitment to addressing what he perceives as imprudent financial decisions at the federal level.
