Congressman Greg Steube, representing Florida's 17th district since 2019, has been vocal on social media regarding his stance on government spending and foreign aid. In a series of tweets, he expressed his concerns about the allocation of taxpayer dollars.

On February 7, 2025, Congressman Steube thanked Representative William Timmons for supporting his legislative proposal aimed at dismantling the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He criticized the agency for its financial practices, stating: "Thank you, @RepTimmons, for cosponsoring my bill to shut down USAID. This agency burns through taxpayer dollars to push failed policies overseas. END IT."

The following day, February 8, 2025, Steube addressed what he described as the Biden administration's use of American tax money to fund international initiatives that he deemed unnecessary. He highlighted expenditures on legal aid for LGBTQI+ asylum seekers in the UK and questioned domestic priorities: "Outrageous.
