Later that day, he questioned the rationale behind passing a Democrat-supported NDAA just before a Republican Senate takes office. He raised concerns about binding Pete Hegseth to Biden's abortion travel policy through the Department of Defense for an entire year. He queried, "Why would we pass a Democrat-supported NDAA when a Republican Senate will be sworn in just 22 days? On December 12, 2024, Congressman Steube expressed his dissatisfaction with foreign aid allocations in the NDAA amidst domestic needs. Highlighting recent natural disasters in his district and broader Southeast US region due to hurricanes, he noted, "My district was ravaged by 3 hurricanes in 3 months. Most of the Southeast US was severely impacted by Helene.
