City Of North Port issued the following announcement on Jun. 11.
Congratulations to the Kiwanis Club of North Port on bringing home a Silver Award from Kiwanis International for their Signature Project, the Children’s Community Clothing Closet! Out of 414 entries, the project, a partnership between the City of North Port and the Kiwanis Club of North Port, won second place nationally for making an impact in the community by providing clothing to area families in need.
“What an honor it is to be working in tandem with the Kiwanis Club of North Port on such a significant project as the Clothing Closet. The work they do, helping some of our most vulnerable residents in the community, is incredible and inspiring. This national recognition and award truly recognizes how valuable they are to our area children in need,” said Janet Carrillo, City of North Port Social Services Division Manager.
On Saturday, June 25, the Children’s Community Clothing Closet will be celebrating their re-opening to those in need. Located at Sam Shapos Way, off North Port Boulevard, the event will feature giveaways including free children's screenings, books, small toys, school uniforms, scrubs for adults, and some new clothing.
