City Of Sarasota issued the following announcement on Oct. 06.
PURPLE HEART CITY - Sarasota has been named a Purple Heart City for its dedication and support honoring America's combat wounded veterans. The commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 759, presented the designation to the City Commission on Tuesday.
