City Of Sarasota issued the following announcement on July 21.
NO DOGS ON THE BEACH - Please remember: Lido Beach is Fido-free. Whether on or off leash, dogs can scare nesting shorebirds, including black skimmers, a threatened and protected species with a sizeable colony on Lido Beach.
Two off-leash dog parks are located in the Sarasota city limits:
Arlington Park - 2650 Waldemere St.
Gillespie Park - 710 N. Osprey Ave.
The only dog beach in the Sarasota region is Brohard Beach and Paw Park in Venice.
