Congressman Greg Steube, who represents Florida's 17th congressional district, made several statements on his Twitter account between July 19 and July 21, 2025. His posts addressed allegations against another member of Congress, recognition for his own work, and recent federal budget decisions.

On July 19, Steube accused Representative Adam Schiff of dishonesty in relation to residency requirements and a mortgage fraud investigation. In his tweet, Steube stated: "Serial liar Adam Schiff—architect of the Russian collusion hoax and two sham impeachments—is now lying about where he lives to dodge a mortgage fraud scandal. The Constitution requires us to live in the state we represent. But Shifty Schiff apparently claimed Maryland as his".

The following day, July 20, Steube shared news of receiving an award from the Legislative Analysis organization. He wrote: "Honored to receive the Champion of Limited Government Award from @leganalysis. I’ll never stop fighting to defend our individual liberties and uphold the Constitution!".

On July 21, Steube credited former President Donald Trump with efforts to reduce government spending by cutting funding for certain federal programs. He tweeted: "Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, Republicans defunded USAID, NPR, PBS, and other radical left-wing programs. This is just the beginning. Every month, every quarter, we should cut more spending and shrink the bureaucracy. Let’s keep it going."

Members of Congress are constitutionally required to reside in the state they represent; however, there is no requirement that they live within their specific congressional district.

USAID (the United States Agency for International Development), NPR (National Public Radio), and PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) are federally funded organizations whose budgets have been subject to political debate regarding their roles and funding levels over time.

Steube's remarks reflect ongoing discussions in Congress about ethics investigations into members' conduct as well as debates over government size and public broadcasting support.
