Congressman Greg Steube, representing Florida's 17th district, has recently shared a series of tweets expressing his views on educational leadership decisions, media coverage of violent incidents, and legislative actions concerning loan forgiveness. Steube, who has been serving in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Tom Rooney, is known for his active engagement in political discourse.
On June 3, 2025, Congressman Steube expressed his approval of the decision made by the Board of Governors regarding the University of Florida's leadership. He stated "Great news for my alma mater and the state of Florida! The Board of Governors heard us loud and clear: Santa Ono was the wrong choice for UF." Steube thanked fellow politicians including Senator Rick Scott and Representative Byron Donalds for their support in this matter.
The following day, June 4, 2025, Steube criticized the mainstream media's portrayal of a recent attack. He tweeted "A dozen people, including a Holocaust survivor, were injured in this brutal attack, and the mainstream media writes a puff piece for the terrorist’s family? Are you kidding me?" highlighting his dissatisfaction with what he perceives as biased reporting.
Later that day, Steube announced new legislative efforts via Twitter. He introduced a bill aimed at preventing federal funds from being used to forgive student loans for individuals involved in extremist activities. His tweet read "BREAKING: I just introduced another bill to codify Trump’s Executive Orders. My 'No Loan Forgiveness for Terrorists Act' would stop taxpayer dollars from subsidizing the student loans of radicals who hate America."
Greg Steube was born in Bradenton, Florida in 1978 and currently resides in Sarasota. A graduate of the University of Florida with both a Bachelor’s degree (2000) and Juris Doctor (2003), he has also served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016.
