Congressman Greg Steube, representing Florida's 17th district, has been vocal on social media regarding several political issues. In a series of tweets, he expressed his views on the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction and what he terms as the "Autopen" scandal.

On May 20, 2025, Congressman Steube stated that "President Trump is 100% right. SALT is nothing but a bailout for Democrat governors who tax their states to death." He suggested that members of the SALT Caucus should address their state and local tax burdens by voting out Democratic legislators whom he deems incompetent.

Later that day, Steube addressed what he referred to as the "Autopen" scandal. He claimed it was "one of the biggest frauds ever pulled on the American people." According to him, President Biden's decline was evident while anonymous bureaucrats managed affairs behind the scenes with Democrats and media allegedly covering up these actions.

On May 21, 2025, Steube commented on legislative matters concerning SALT deductions. He mentioned that "The SALT Caucus is blocking President Trump’s bill." He reiterated Trump's stance against benefiting Democratic governors and relayed a message from Trump to Mike Lawler about addressing SALT after passing another bill.

Greg Steube has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Tom Rooney. Born in Bradenton, Florida in 1978, Steube resides in Sarasota and holds degrees from the University of Florida.
