Congressman Greg Steube, representing Florida's 17th district, has been active on social media discussing recent legislative developments and international affairs. His recent tweets highlight his support for President Trump's policies and provide insights into ongoing political debates.
On May 14, 2025, Congressman Steube announced the progress of a significant legislative effort. He stated that after "more than 17 hours of debate," the Ways and Means GOP had advanced what he described as the "ONE BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL." He criticized Democrat amendments as "ridiculous" and noted that President Trump’s tax cuts were moving to the budget committee before heading to the House floor for a final vote.
In another tweet dated May 15, 2025, Steube questioned whether Republican representatives from high-tax states would obstruct President Trump’s tax bill due to concerns over state and local tax (SALT) deductions. He expressed his opinion that SALT is merely a bailout for high-tax states and should be eliminated. Despite this stance, he acknowledged some Republicans' reluctance to accept even a tripling of the deduction to $30,000 in his tweet.
Later on May 15, Steube highlighted several international achievements under President Trump’s leadership in just one week. According to his tweet, these included resetting U.S.-China trade terms favorably for the United States, securing the release of an American hostage from Gaza, facilitating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan with Trump's intervention, and Ukraine signing a critical agreement.
Greg Steube has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Tom Rooney. Born in Bradenton, Florida in 1978, he now resides in Sarasota. He holds degrees from the University of Florida—a BS obtained in 2000 and a JD earned in 2003—and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016.
