Congressman Greg Steube, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 17th district since 2019, recently shared his thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. Born in Bradenton, Florida, and currently residing in Sarasota, Steube has a background in law with degrees from the University of Florida.

On May 8, 2025, Congressman Steube commemorated Victory in Europe Day by acknowledging the end of World War II on the continent. He tweeted "80 years ago today, victory was declared in Europe, and World War II ended on the continent. On VE Day, we remember the sacrifices made by the Greatest Generation and honor the enduring spirit of freedom they fought to defend. We will never forget their bravery or their legacy."

Later that day, he addressed local development changes in Sarasota County. In his tweet " @SRQCountyGov just approved rezoning over 2,200 acres in Lakewood Ranch Southeast to allow up to 5,000 homes. The land, located between University Parkway and Fruitville Road, was changed from a rural designation of 1 unit per 10 acres to 3.5 units per acre — a 3,451% increase", he highlighted significant zoning changes that could impact local housing density.

On May 9, Congressman Steube announced legislative efforts related to campaign financing reform. He stated "I just introduced the House companion to @SenJoniErnst’s ELECT Act to END taxpayer funding of presidential campaigns. No major candidate has taken public financing since 2008, but the federal government still asks you to chip in $3 every tax season." This move aligns with his ongoing focus on fiscal responsibility within government spending.

Steube's career includes service in both state and national legislatures; he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016 before succeeding Tom Rooney as a U.S. Congressman.
