Congressman Greg Steube, representing Florida’s 17th district since 2019, recently shared his views on social media regarding national security and immigration policies. His statements reflect his ongoing concerns about the impact of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs on military and intelligence operations, as well as border security under different presidential administrations.
On May 3, 2025, Congressman Steube criticized DEI initiatives within military and intelligence sectors. He stated that "DEI weakens our military, sabotages our intel, and endangers Americans." He referenced a revelation by @DNIGabbard to @megynkelly that intelligence analysts were required to spend substantial time on DEI programs for career advancement rather than focusing on homeland protection. This situation was linked to issues at the U.S. border.
The following day, May 4, 2025, Steube highlighted a significant decrease in apprehensions since March 2024. He attributed this change to President Trump's leadership. In his view, Congress should provide necessary support to further secure the border and manage immigration effectively. He tweeted: "Apprehensions down 94% since March 2024... Now Congress must give him the tools to finish the job—shut the border, deport the illegals, and take our country back."
In a lighter note on the same day, Congressman Steube also acknowledged "Star Wars Day" with a brief message: "May the 4th be with you!"
Greg Steube has served in various political roles including in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016 before joining Congress. Born in Bradenton in 1978 and residing in Sarasota now at age 44, he holds degrees from the University of Florida.
