Sarasota Art Museum reveals diverse exhibitions for the 2024/2025 season

The Sarasota Art Museum has announced its exhibition schedule for the 2024/2025 season, featuring a diverse range of artistic showcases. The program includes both solo and group exhibitions that highlight new commissions, site-specific installations, and thematic explorations.

Opening on July 28, 2024, "Modern Masterpieces Uncovered: Galloway’s Furniture Showroom by Victor Lundy" will delve into the architectural significance of Victor Lundy's work within the Sarasota School of Architecture. On November 17, 2024, "Larry Fink / Martha Posner: Flesh and Bone" will present the creative dialogue between photographer Larry Fink and sculptor Martha Posner.

In February 2025, "Future Now: Virtual Sneakers to Cutting-Edge Kicks" will explore technological advancements in footwear design. This exhibition will feature innovative materials such as mushroom leather and reclaimed ocean plastics.

Virginia Shearer, executive director of Sarasota Art Museum, stated, “The upcoming season at the Museum is sure to delight, inspire, and engage audiences from near and far.”

The museum's summer schedule also includes "Skyway 2024: A Contemporary Collaboration," showcasing over 60 artists from the Tampa Bay region starting July 28. In October, solo exhibitions by Tammy Nguyen and Claire Ashley will open on October 20. Joe Fig's work in "Contemplating Vermeer" is set to debut on November 17.

For her first solo museum exhibition opening May 4, 2025, Chris Friday will present "Where We Never Grow Old," alongside "Personal to Political: Celebrating the African American Artists of Paulson Fontaine Press."
