The Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College of Art and Design has opened registration for its adult art classes. These classes, offered through The Studios at SAM, cater to various skill levels from beginner to advanced. Classes include popular subjects like Anatomy for Artists and Developing Your Artistic Vision of Sarasota Through Photography, as well as new offerings such as Nature Photography: Birds of Florida and Painting 101: Acrylic.

Classes are available on weekends, weeknights, and weekdays in the museum's dedicated classroom space at the historic Sarasota High School building. Participants can choose individual sessions or multi-week courses with four or six sessions.

Virginia Shearer, the museum’s executive director, stated that joining an art class "is a great way to meet new people with shared interests." She emphasized the benefits for mental health and happiness that come from socializing through shared activities.

The cost for single classes starts at $63 per session for museum members and $70 for non-members. Four-session classes begin at $180 for members and $200 for non-members, while six-session classes start at $270 for members and $300 for non-members. Most classes include supplies in their fees.

Shearer added that learning to make art enhances appreciation when viewing famous artworks in galleries and museums. She described art classes as an ideal gift for those seeking culturally rich experiences.

Sarasota Art Museum is known as a hub for contemporary art appreciation in Sarasota. It offers transformative exhibitions and programs designed to inspire new ideas. The museum shares its campus with Ringling College’s Continuing Studies program, which includes non-credit studio arts courses.

Located in a reimagined building by K/R Architects since 2019, the museum features exhibition spaces along with a plaza court, Great Lawn installations, Bistro dining inspired by local produce, and SHOP offering related merchandise.

General admission is priced at $15 but free entry is provided to youth under 17 years old, active military personnel with ID, Ringling College alumni, faculty staff students (with one guest), Cross College Alliance students (with ID), and museum members.

The museum operates seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday and from 11 am to 5 pm on Sundays. The Bistro is open daily from 9 am to 3 pm.
