City Of Sarasota issued the following announcement on Apr. 07.
SCOOTER/BIKE SHARING – Our micro-mobility scooter/bike sharing program with Veo is catching on! Over 3,400 rides within the first two weeks. The rental program helps fill the gap between transit and walking by providing a quick, convenient option for first-mile, last-mile trips around the city.
Riders in Sarasota are strongly encouraged to stay off sidewalks.
Under Florida state law, scooters are regulated like bicycles:
Use a bike lane when possible
Ride in the direction of vehicular traffic
Ride in a traffic lane when the speed limit is 30 mph or less
Avoid narrow or crowded sidewalks
Yield to pedestrians at all times
