City Of North Port issued the following announcement on Mar. 25.
It's a double feature today, with our next focus being on Assistant City Attorney Margaret Roberts. She started with the City in 2020, and her passion for law is palpable. She has more than 35 years of experience in local government law, starting after graduating from Nova University Law School.
"City government is the best form of government in my experience -- it is the closest to the people," she said. "It's also one of the oldest instructions organizations of people gathering for a purpose."
While she's proud to be a woman in law, that's not her focus.
"My focus has rarely been about me as a woman -- it's been about being a lawyer," she said. "I have been blessed to work in America at a very good time, and half of my law school class were women."
Practicing law can be a taxing and time-consuming endeavor, which is why Margaret is so grateful for the City's wellness program.
"It took work life balance exercises to help me take the time to see the real world," she said. "My North Port sisters have been a tremendous influence in my life."
Margaret and her husband Frank have two grown sons. When she's not at work, she enjoys bible study, visiting with neighbors, bicycling, walking, and spending time with family.
We appreciate your hard work for the City, Margaret. Thank you! #WomensHistoryMonth
