Highschooostudent1

Cardinal Mooney High School issued the following announcement on Sep. 16.

SARASOTA, Florida – Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School is proud to announce three semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Competition –  Hallie Monserez, Peter Etz and Sofia Cava.  These students are part of the 16,000 semifinalists named based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) and have the opportunity to advance to the Finalist level to compete for National Merit Scholarships.

National Merit Semifinalists are the highest scorers in each of the 50 states and represent less than one percent of each state’s high school seniors. The 2020 PSAT/NMSQT served as an initial screen of entrants to the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. The Selection Index scores of students who met the program participation requirements were used to designate a pool of about 16,000 Semifinalists on a state allocation basis.
