City Of Sarasota issued the following announcement on July 27.
Members of the Surtax IV Ad Hoc Committee were sworn into office last week and are ready to get to work reviewing proposed infrastructure projects and soliciting public input.
The voter approved countywide one percent sales tax goes toward improvements for parks and recreation, public safety, mobility, neighborhoods and more. Voters first authorized the one percent sales tax in 1989 and have extended it twice. Sarasota County voters will have an opportunity in November 2022 to continue it for another 15 years.
Community meetings will be scheduled soon to gain input on future projects.
