Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-Fla.) called on President Joe Biden to stand up for America against China.
“I urge President Biden to reject calls from the CCP to weaken our stance on China,” Gimenez wrote on Twitter. It's time to strengthen American foreign policy in all aspects.”
Gimenez said that he has seen how China is leveraging on America’s own assets and steering the very same wheel against the country.
“When I served as mayor of Miami-Dade County, I had a front-row seat to the attempts from China to control our critical infrastructure and assets,” Gimenez wrote in his The Hill op-ed column.
For instance, CRRC, a state-owned Chinese rolling stock manufacturer “have tried to insert themselves into America’s infrastructure, attempting to bid on contracts to become an important part of Miami-Dade County’s light rail systems,” he said.
Gimenez said China has completely “discarded international norms (by) using Chinese-based international conglomerates such as Huawei to detect and punish Uyghur Muslims, (and) forsaking responsibility in their extreme culpability for the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“If the Biden administration can commit to maintaining a great power's competition strategy, then I will be the first to stand beside President Biden to defend our nation from China’s threats of global dominance,” Gimenez said.
