Congressman Greg Steube, who represents Florida's 17th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on social media regarding a tragic plane crash and local developments following hurricanes. Steube has been serving in Congress since 2019, succeeding Tom Rooney, and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives.

On January 30, 2025, Congressman Steube expressed his condolences concerning a recent plane crash. He stated, "Such a tragedy, I can’t imagine how horrifying that was to be on that plane. Jen and I are praying for the families involved in the horrific crash and Thank you for the incredible work being done by our first responders."

Later that day, he reported positive news for his district regarding environmental recovery efforts. At 16:20 UTC on January 30, he announced via social media that "Great news for our district! In the aftermath of storm surges from Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Midnight Pass has reopened for the first time in over four decades and remains stable." He acknowledged the challenges posed by these storms but noted the natural reopening as a significant development.
