City Of North Port issued the following announcement on Nov. 04.
PRICE BLVD IS NOW OPEN
We are excited to announce that the Blue Ridge Waterway crossing has been repaired and Price Boulevard is once again fully open to traffic.
We understand the strain that these closures have put on our residents, and we appreciate your patience as we’ve worked to restore this crucial east-west artery. Hurricane Ian battered our area, causing significant damage to Price Boulevard at 4 waterway crossings – the Creighton, Lagoon, MacCaughey, and Blue Ridge Waterways. The damage to these crossings not only impacted the roadway, but also damaged water and sewer lines which had to be repaired, replaced, and/or moved to guard against future damage before the roadwork could be completed. Additionally, in several places, the road needed to be reconstructed and repaved, and the roadside restored after significant erosion.
The Department of Public Works continues to drive recovery from Hurricane Ian including working on ongoing vegetation and C&D debris clean-up efforts, repairs to street and traffic lights, and replacement of street signs. Please visit northportfl.gov/alerts for updates on the recovery process.
