City Of Venice, Fl issued the following announcement on Aug. 22.
It's National Aviation Week!
Venice Municipal Airport recently completed a project to assist pilots in taxiing on the airport. The extension of Taxiway E (Echo) was opened the end of May.
This much-needed project creates a full parallel taxiway to Runway 5/23. It will serve to reduce runway occupancy time and enhance safety by eliminating the need for aircraft arriving on Runway 23 to back-taxi on the runway to get to the Fixed Based Operator, Suncoast Air Center.
This project also eliminates the need for larger aircraft to use the smaller Taxiway, Charlie. In addition, this project encourages the use of Runway 5-23 for noise mitigation.
Wright Construction, Inc. was the contractor and AID Inc. (American Infrastructure Development) was the Engineer responsible for the design, construction documents, bidding and construction administrative services. Hanson Professional Inc. was the engineer who provided full-time inspection and quality assurance during the full construction process. The project was funded 100% by FAA at a cost of $2.1 million.
