FRUITVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: The referendum brings over $962,390 into our classrooms without raising taxes

Money 02

Fruitville Elementary School issued the following announcement on Feb 14.

VOTE MARCH 8: The referendum brings over $962,390 into our classrooms without raising taxes.

- Sarasota County is one of only two school districts in the state to be graded “A” by the Florida Department of Education every year since grading began in 2004.

- The consistent “A” rating is proof that our neighborhood schools provide a good value for the taxes.

- The millage pays for teacher salaries, guidance counselors, athletic trainers, music, dance, arts programs and Technology Support - Professionals in each school.

- The 1 mill has been in place since 2002.

- Funding from the referendum pays for Summer Learning Programs and some Reading Recovery teachers allowing students to avoid the summer slide in learning.

- The referendum supports Pre-K and Early Learning Opportunities.

- The additional funding allows us to keep the added 30 minutes of instruction per school day, equaling 18 extra days a year.

- Continue to enhance safety and security at schools.
